Best? of the year… via instagram

Instagram does this ‘best nine” thing.  As a willing lemming, I of course had to make one of my own.  The results were (above) a bit shocking to me.  Out of the nine images, four featured bob, four featured me and one with Buster.  Two (maybe three, a bit fuzzy), are images that I didn’t even create this year.  One is an image that was auto generated and tweaked by me.

Why then is Frank shocked?

It’s a bullsh-t ego thing.  I recycled some stuff.  To me, those old images (#2, #4 & #8) are old.  To someone else, they’re new.  I pride myself on putting out new stuff all the time.  If it’s old, I make sure to say that it’s old.  One third of the “best” was complete before 2015 started.  Of course, it’s still my work, but it’s not my 2015 work.

I suppose if you really get down to the core, everything I do is recycled in a way… some content is just more environmentally sound that other content.

I think I may be a bit too hard on myself.  Maybe not.  I’m just glad people still dig what I do… old or new.

I’ll post about the coming year soon.  (Cue dramatic music now).

Best Fans ever…

christmas

Reason #1,247,487 why I have the best fans in the world. Super Bob the Squirrel fan KimMarie Wny sent the WHOLE CAST of the strip holiday gifts!

Treats for the dogs, wildflower seeds for Lezley, a beautiful star ornament for Lauren, a squirrel for me (believe it or not, I DIDN’T have this one) a mini sunflower calendar for Bob and some AMAZING peanut/sunflower vegan cookies. I just have to say… wow. Thank you so much…

I know I sound like I’m stuck on repeat, but I have to say it again.  Each and every time someone sends ANYTHING to me and/or my family because of the strip I get emotional.  After all these years and all these strips, I’m continually amazed someone would go out of their way to do something so great.  Each gift I receive from a fan is special beyond special.  I’m happy that people read my strip… this just ads icing on top of the cherry on top of the whipped cream, on top of the hot fudge, on top of the icing, on top of the cake.

Thank you.

Plan for 2016… starting now.

The last few weeks have been crazy.  Crazy busy.  Crazy different.  Crazy thinking.  Crazy crazy.

For the last four years, I have offered exclusive Bob the Squirrel downloadable e-comics.  My initial intention was to offer a regularly updated array of only on the web comics.  Time and life and things just got in the way and my vision never came to fruition.  But, I’ve maintained the venue simply because I wanted that option to go back if I needed to.  The only new thing I recently put out was the Instagram Bob 365 collection.  It was cool to see it collected in one place, but it wasn’t necessarily new content.

I made a lot of lofty plans for Bob in 2015.  Not a whole lot of them came to fruition.  I did however get the puppet made.

I’m telling you all that to tell you this: As of January 2016, the Bob the Squirrel comic downloads will no longer be available. My plan is to concentrate on the new Bob the Squirrel app.  It’s pretty obvious that consumption of the strip and content is heading in this direction.  In addition to all the other content I post on bobthesquirrel.com, squirrelosophy.com and various social media venues, I will be adding specific content you can only find on the app.

Oh yeah, one more thing.  The Bob the Squirrel app that is currently only available for iOS?  Android will be on the way!
