sweet… holiday
Happy Holidays!
Happy Holidays!
The last few weeks have been crazy. Crazy busy. Crazy different. Crazy thinking. Crazy crazy.
For the last four years, I have offered exclusive Bob the Squirrel downloadable e-comics. My initial intention was to offer a regularly updated array of only on the web comics. Time and life and things just got in the way and my vision never came to fruition. But, I’ve maintained the venue simply because I wanted that option to go back if I needed to. The only new thing I recently put out was the Instagram Bob 365 collection. It was cool to see it collected in one place, but it wasn’t necessarily new content.
I made a lot of lofty plans for Bob in 2015. Not a whole lot of them came to fruition. I did however get the puppet made.
I’m telling you all that to tell you this: As of January 2016, the Bob the Squirrel comic downloads will no longer be available. My plan is to concentrate on the new Bob the Squirrel app. It’s pretty obvious that consumption of the strip and content is heading in this direction. In addition to all the other content I post on bobthesquirrel.com, squirrelosophy.com and various social media venues, I will be adding specific content you can only find on the app.
Oh yeah, one more thing. The Bob the Squirrel app that is currently only available for iOS? Android will be on the way!
People have been starting to ask about the Bob the Squirrel app– which is very good. There wasn’t really much of a build up to launching it, I just kinda did it.
I cannot stress this enough: the app is a perpetual work in progress… I’m still working on the flow, design and type of content the app will have. It will be forever in a state of tweak. But, all updates I make should flow in without having to re-download or update the app.
I want to see what kind of demand comes of it. I will start promoting it as I do everything else Bob in the next few weeks. As of now, it is only available on the Apple iOS platform… if you have 8.0 and above, you can also download it onto an iPad and iPod. To incorporate an Android platform would require an investment… it’s not a lot, but it’s enough. I want this app to be self-supporting. I hope all you Android users out there understand where I’m coming from. I hate, hate, hate making things about money, but in this case I really don’t have a choice.
It is my hope that the revenue generated from the Bob the Squirrel Patreon campaign will offset the monthly costs of an additional platform. I’ll update you when I have more info.
In the meantime, all you iOS users can download the app here. Android users that have iOS friends – get them to download this app… the more downloads, the better the chance of an Android platform making it to the light of day!
