if you are hanging on every word of this week’s storyline, you may have a question or two. upon completion of my Master’s degree in 2010, i was riding a philosophical high that i’d never experienced.  naturally, i thought about pursuing more education.  the thing of it is, no one offers a Ph.D in drawing. or coloring. or anything like that.  my idea was to maybe, possibly, go into history…in researching that, i found i would need to basically give up my life for 6 years or more.  it was possible to do both, but i would have to get into rocky/rambo shape if i had any hopes of emerging with sanity in tow.

for the time being, it’s something that is on the back burner…at least until i find the right recipe and ingredients…it’s still a possibility…just keep watching the strip… you’ll know when bob knows…

  1. Will Brooker has a PhD in Batman. Well, technically “cultural studies” but his thesis was on Batman and he was known for a while as Dr. Batman. Henry Jenkins teaches grad classes at the University of SoCal, focusing on media studies, but that frequently includes comics. Dan Didio is coming in for a guest lecture this semester. There’s doodling-related doctorates out there, but they take a bit of hunting for.

That said, yeah, sounds like WAY the heck too much work relative to the return. Negative ROI, you could say. (That sentence is about the extent that my Master’s has helped me!)

    1. you also have to consider dr. peter coogan… he turned his thesis in american studies, “superhero: secret origin of a genre” into a great book i used extensively for my graduate studies…
